Born in 1936 into an agricultural family in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, he rose from humble origins to success in his pursuits.

  • Birth

    Born 16 Nov 1936 in Pedaparupudi, Krishna District (Madras Presidency).

  • First major venture

    Founds Margadarsi Chit Fund (company incorporation: 31 Aug 1962).

  • Entry into publishing

    Launches Annadata, a monthly agriculture magazine in Telugu, which later becomes India's highest-circulated magazine.

  • Eenadu is born

    Launches Eenadu in Visakhapatnam on 10 Aug 1974; it grows into the largest Telugu daily newspaper.

  • Foods business

    Establishes Priya Foods, blending traditional Indian flavors with modern production standards.

  • Film Production House

    Sets up Usha Kiran Movies (later producing over 80 films across languages).

  • National recognition

    Produces the acclaimed film Mayuri, receiving multiple major awards and national acclaim.

  • Private Satellite TV

    Launches ETV (Telugu) on 27 Aug 1995; later expands into a multi-channel ETV Network.

  • World's Largest Film Studio Complex

    Opens Ramoji Film City, officially certified by Guinness World Records as the world's largest film studio complex.

  • Diversification

    Ramoji Group evolves into a diversified conglomerate across media, film, foods, retail, tourism, and hospitality.

  • Padma Vibhushan

    Sri Ramoji Rao, was conferred the Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India, dedicated his life to nation-building through media, enterprise, and public service.
